Another week, another spring refresh. This one is the most “light” refresh of the three spaces thus far (den +living room area) — just a few touch ups. Honestly, most of the “refresh” came in the form of cleaning out my closet like whoa. We don’t have a walk in, so keeping things minimal is SUPER key. I filled up so several donation bags this weekend, and goodness, is that a good feeling or what? Maybe I’m crazy, but a good closet clean out makes me feel so much better and lighter. Too much stuff is just…too much.
Additionally, a fun part of this spring refresh is I get to show you what our Master Bedroom looks like one year after we transformed it during the One Room Challenge! You’ll notice that I only pulled a few minor tweaks as everything else is still the same. We still very much are loving our bright white space with blue accents.
Tweak #1: the curtains!
After almost 5 years with our budget friendly IKEA LENDA curtains, I just couldn’t say no to these tassels when I saw them at Home Goods. Well, I take that back. I did. I passed by them once, strolled around with them in my cart and then put them back — rationalizing that our curtains were just fine. And then I knew I really loved them when I couldn’t stop thinking about them. I headed back to Home Goods a couple of days after, and (of course) they were gone. But since I am a professional Home Goods stalker, I eventually found them again and safely, swiftly scooped them right up for keeps! I love the added texture and flair they bring to the already funky room.
I found this pair online at TJMaxx — the most similar to mine price wise except they’re 84″ instead of my 96″ set. But tassel and pom curtains are popping up everywhere! See below for more and click on what catches your eye as almost every link has multiple color options.
Tweak #2: The Quilt
Little did you realize in last year’s ORC reveal that I made a queen size quilt work on our king size bed. Sure, it’s not THAT fantastic of a feat. But it was a funny one to say the least. I just keep the way too short end facing the wall with the window/closet. Ha! But with a silly, nooooot so elegant fit, I was very excited to finally upgrade our beloved pick-stitch queen quilt to a luxurious king quilt c/o Serena & Lily!
Do you see that lovely detail? Eeee! The Westwood Quilt reminds me so much of our old quilt (in all the right ways) that I refused to give up when we upgraded to a king because I loved it so much. It’s the perfect weight…not too light, not too heavy…I adore the textured detail…the stitching…the bright white. It’s dreamy!!! With crazy weather in the South where it’s quite often 80 degrees one day and 39 the next (e.g. last week), I am always an advocate of having a nice quilt on your bed year round and a folded duvet at the end. It’s the best combo. Summer? Just use the quilt. Taking a nap and don’t feel like making the bed? Use the duvet. Winter? Use both! It’s the winning combo. Y’all should hop on that. You’re welcome. 😉
And there you have it. Those tweaks are minor yet major upgrades at the same time!
